The Eye of a Naturalist. The Heart of a Pastor.
Harold E. Kohn had a gift for seeing meaning in things others might pass by. Birds, wildlife, plants, weather, water, woods, and the turning seasons became starting points for reflections on faith, purpose, perseverance, suffering, and hope.
That perspective grew from a lifetime of close observation. Kohn was not simply a writer who enjoyed the outdoors; his daughter described him as a true naturalist—curious, attentive, and eager to understand what he saw. At Hidden Brook, his family’s wooded retreat in northern Michigan, he found a place to slow down, observe the created world, and reflect on the deeper meaning of life.
Refreshed by the Riverside makes a meaningful Christian gift for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone feeling weary, overwhelmed, or simply in need of renewed perspective and thoughtful encouragement about faith, nature, and life.
